Specifying Name Servers

If the majority of your web sites are hosted with ITSaSCREAM.com (this would probably only apply to VISP & Dedicated Server customers) it may be advantageous to force your dial-up connection to use our name servers. The benefit of doing this is the ability to see DNS entries immediately when they take effect. For example if you through your control panel register a new domain, the domain will be set up within 1 hour of registration on our servers. Normally (using dynamic name servers) you would be able to FTP your new site up to your server but would not be able to view the web site through your browser until the relevant domain registry has refreshed its records. This can take up to 48 Hours. Specifying our name servers should overcome this.

Please note these instructions for specifying name servers are for windows based systems only.

i. Open up your Dial-Up Networking (DUN) Folder:
     Windows 95: Start > Programs > Accessories > Dial-Up Networking
     Windows 98/2000: Start > Programs > Accessories > Communications > Dial-Up Networking
ii. Right-Hand click with your mouse over your connection icon. Click 'Properties' from the menu.

iii. Click 'TCP/IP Settings...'. Select 'Specify name server addresses'.
Enter 217.68.242.100 as the 'Primary DNS' entry and 217.68.242.101 as the 'Secondary DNS' entry.

iv. Click 'OK' to close the TCP/IP Settings dialog box. Click 'OK' to finish.
